Cap & Trade

Our friends in Salem are a major contributor to our efforts and have been a key factor in getting timely updates and action items concerning legislative issues. Jamie Babcock has been a huge driving force behind this effort and deserves our most sincere appreciation. Let’s show our appreciation by taking action on every piece of information that comes our way and disseminating this to everyone you know.

This is the result of many, many hours of reading through the more than 1,400 pages of this bill, and she still didn’t get through it all!  Much of the language is VERY difficult to understand.  This is scary stuff.  Remember, California recently passed a bill requiring thermostats have a special receiver so that they can be controlled by the state.  They will decide what temp is comfortable for you and your family or business. YES this is now a law in CA!

This Cap and Trade bill will extend this level of control (AND MUCH, MUCH MORE) to the federal gov’t that will effect so MANY areas of our lives and provides the open door that will make it VERY difficult to limit where it will stop.  Keep up the barrage of calls, letters, e-mails and faxes!  WE CAN STOP THIS from going through, together! (see below)

THANK YOU JAMIE!!!

Cap & Trade

As to the C(r)ap and Traitors bill, (my new nickname for it), here's the new ACORN 8, now WANTED and HUNTED.  We need to write them and let them know we see them and we know who they are.  These are the 'turn coat' bedwetter Republicans that voted in the House after Pelosi and Obama put the screws to them:
http://michellemalkin.com/  http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/rep.-kennedy-returns-for-climate-vote-2009-06-26.html They pulled a dem out of rehab to vote for this bill.

In the bill there are provisions that say (and I'm paraphrasing here):  Before you can sell your home, a federal inspector must come to your home where he will look at your energy efficiency, for appliances (that are staying), your windows, doors, water heater, air conditioning, paint, roofing, insulation, etc. etc. and grade you.  If this falls below the grade, you will have to pay for all upgrades before the Federal Government will allow you to sell your house.  Since the banks are now run by the Federal government with stricter lending policy's for some, if you cannot pay for the upgrades because the bank won't give you a loan, you're stuck with the house till you can upgrade it to satisfy the standards.  There is verbage regarding the Energy Secretary providing bonuses and bounties to Best in Class products to the manufacturers, recommending which are good and which are not, therefor providing consumers with information on what the Government feels you need to be buying, rewarding one or two companies with this distinction. (sound like Russian communism yet?)

"Electrical charging infrastructure for plug-in electric drive vehicles, including battery exchange, fast charging infrastructure, and other services, in public or private locations, including street parking, parking garages, parking lots, homes, gas stations, and highway rest stops."  This all comes with fees and more fees, to business owners and consumers.  There's more SMART GRID and PEAK USAGE rationing language, language regarding dealerships, what kind of cars (all electric/bio fuel hybrids), who can sell them, and "shredding the old cars per the Secretary of Transportations orders".  Expect prices to skyrocket there too, as businesses try to retrofit their businesses to be "eco" friendly inside and out.  I'm not going to start on the "SMARTWAY TRANSPORTATION" where they start tracking how you get from one place to another, and recommend a more eco friendly way you should drive to get to your destination, or tracking shipping methods and how much greenhouse gasses shipping banana's to Oregon will be.  I can't, because I have a headache now.

These are some examples of some the massive regulations that the Fed will have over our daily lives.   This is the message I got when I clicked on the Govtrack.org page to view the bill:  "This bill is very large, and loading it may cause your web browser to perform sluggishly, or even freeze. This is especially true for old and/or bad browsers". (insert Congressman)  Here's the txt version so you don't BLOW up your computer!
http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/D?c111:2:./temp/~c111mtTM1B
I had to keep reloading this so the link might be bad.  Took me hours to move forward looking at the bill, HB2454 or the Waxman/Markey Bill is easier to google.

In the end this is a massive tax that will ration energy to each home across the board.  You will be effected in your shower as they ration how much water you're allowed to use, how much heat/cooling you're allowed to have, everytime you flick on a light, when you drive, when you go to a restaurant, even the bathroom.  You think toilets don't flush now?  Just wait till Obama decides what kind of toilets we can use.  This bill coupled with the Healthcare plan will ration everything we do and every age group will be effected, with judgements being made by Feds as to who stays nice and cool and who lives and who dies.  Tom Daschle (the new Healthcare Czar) says health-care reform “will not be pain free.” Seniors should be more accepting of the conditions that come with age instead of treating them. That means the elderly will bear the brunt.

This from American Progress.Org. where they explain how things will work within the first several years of this bills passage:

The trade: Companies unable to meet their emissions quotas could purchase allowances from other companies that have acquired more permits than they need to account for their emissions. The cost of buying and selling these credits would be determined by the marketplace, which over time would reduce the cost of trading the credits as trading becomes more widespread and efficient.  (oh boy, can you imagine how expensive the initial permits will be?)

The profits: Initial estimates by the Congressional Budget Office project that an economy-wide cap-and-trade program would generate at least $50 billion per year, but could reach up to $300 billion. Approximately 10 percent of this revenue should be allocated to help offset costs to businesses and shareholders of affected industries. Of the remaining revenue, approximately half should be devoted to help offset any energy price increases for low- and middle-income Americans that may occur as a result of the transition to more efficient energy sources. The other half of the remaining revenue should be used to invest in renewable energy, efficiency, low-carbon transportation technologies, green-collar job training, and the transition to a low-carbon economy. Some resources should also be invested in the energy, environment, and infrastructure sectors in developing nations to alleviate energy poverty with low-carbon energy systems and help these nations adapt to the inevitable effects of global warming. Revenues from the permit auction would essentially be “recycled” back into the economy to facilitate the transition to an efficient, low-carbon energy economy and ensure that consumers are not unduly burdened by potentially higher energy costs.  *(So, let me get this straight, we are doing all this to stop the warming, but we're going to pay other countries lots of tax money because inevitably there will be warming?)

Per the http://www.americanprogress.org/issues/2008/01/capandtrade101.html

Yet, Obama said "My plan to cap carbon emmissions will cause energy prices to skyrocket."  What we should be paying attention to is who stands to benefit from this; GE stands to make billions as well as Gore and his carbon credit trading corporation.  Then there is Pelosi, Reid, Frank, Rangel, Murtha, Dodd, et al. stand to receive millions of dollars back for their personal investments in companies that are signing on with the Federal Government to monopolize technology considered "green".  These folks have the heads up and have already put a few $100,000 in investments, backing off till they have the green light to invest more.  Everyone of the Republicans that voted yea on the c(r)ap and tax bill is from the coastal states, states who's economy's are in the tank, as well as one from Illinois... and I'll let you figure out the connection to him and his role in this.  The bill will redefine how we work, drive, live, play, and pay for everything.  This will be the CHANGE they are looking for, a European style market place where we grow stagnant and descend into the new Dark Ages where nothing moves and no one works unless the Federal Government says so; just look to the U.S. Postal Service or the DMV for an example of how things will work across the board.

I have no idea what a 'green job' is but Wikipedia has these listings:

  • Environmental Lawyer (why of course!)
  • Conservation Movement Workers (worker bees for the 'hive')
  • Environmental 'Consultants' (exorbitant pricing will reign in this market, as all businesses and homes will have to hire them to wade through all the regs.)
  • Enviro and Bio Systems Engineers
  • Green Building Architects
  • Holistic Passive Solar Building Designers (do they do drapery too? This one is my personal favorite!)
  • "Green" business owners (hippie shops maybe?)
  • Ecotechnology workers (more worker bees)
  • Sales staff working in these 'services', (the used care salesman of the 'green era')
  • Organic farmers (have you seen the organic produce in Safeway? It goes bad within a day, and it's super expensive)
  • People that can build things like McGyver, out of bubblegum and recycled aluminium/plastic to make solar or wind powered crap.

USA Green Jobs Act 2007

The Green Jobs Act of 2007 (H.R. 2847), introduced by Reps. Hilda Solis (D-CA) and John Tierney (D-MA), "authorized up to $125 million in funding to establish national and state job training programs, administered by the U.S. Department of Labor, to help address job shortages that are impairing growth in green industries, such as energy efficient buildings and construction, renewable electric power, energy efficient vehicles, and biofuels development."

Then we get to what is really behind taking over the car industry and the dealerships.  There are provisions regarding capping emissions on cars, so GM and Chrysler will be solely set aside to build strictly small, white, slow, battery operated death traps, that will die in 100,000 miles or less.  A Prius leaves a bigger "foot print" than a HumVee, yet folks that buy those cars actually think they're doing something good for the environment due to a propaganda style sales pitch.  Where exactly are they going to throw out all those lithium batteries that run those cars, and has anyone asked Canada how their forests and the area surrounding the plant that manufactured the lithium batteries are doing?  In the end, as we all know, when the Federal Government steps in to 'regulate', or monitor, things like the housing market, the housing crisis is usually the result due to folks like Barney Frank saying for years "Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are fine, nothing to see here folks, no need for more oversight, I have it all under control."  Only to turn around 8 years later and blame the crash on "too little oversight".  There will be more pollutants and black market deals, more energy theft, consumer theft, and everyone across the board will be rationed to death in the end.  In the meantime, the new reports coming out of the EPA and the 'science community' show evidence the Earth is in cooling trend and will continue that trend till 2030.  Though I've not seen a meteorologist that can accurately predict weather 2 days out with over 85% accuracy (Southern Cali doesn't count, nor does Arizona) or a 10 day forcast with anywhere near 65% accuracy, so 100 years out or 30 years out is totally impossible to predict.

In conclusion, this bill is green but not "read" all over.  It's green with 1500 pages of sheer greed, green with LOTS of tax payer cash! Energy company's will stand to make record profits, just look to Germany to find proof.  This is a green cash cow for company's like GE, with green spots all over it.  Al Gore is going to profit so much he'll be burning cash because he'll be rolling in it with Tipper in his 40,000 sq. ft mansion that emits more carbon than a small city.  As Kermit once said.. "It's not easy being green", but Al Gore says "Bring it on baby!".

To Do List:  Call and write and write and call Merkley and Wyden.  Break their email and light up their phone lines and urge them to vote NO.  Ask them if they've read this bahemouth bill, (my eyes bled just getting through the first 400 pages of legal ease and insertions).  Fight this bill and demand they understand it before they dare pass it.
